Last Saturday, I headed to Union Square to experience Barnes & Noble’s one-day event, which kicked off their recent promotion of adult coloring books and coloring supplies: The All-American Art Unwind.
For this free event, from noon to 5pm at every Barnes & Noble location, a cozy section of the store–in Union Square, the event was held on the fourth floor–was designated for coloring. A shelf stacked with pages from classic and recently published intricately designed adult coloring books on one side, and colored pencils, crayons and more on the other, were provided for anyone wanting to join in.
St. Martin’s Griffin contributed to the offerings with the Kingfisher page from our BIRDS: A Mindful Coloring Book by Georgie Woolridge.
I’m not surprised by the answer I received after asking the B&N employee manning the table how the event was going.
“Everyone loves this,” she said. “It’s fun. I hope we do a party with drinks!”
If you missed this kick off event, no matter. You can color in the comfort of your home. Simply go online or walk in to your local Barnes & Noble and you’ll likely see a full display of coloring books and supplies.
