It’s World Water Day this Saturday!
I grew up in a house with an older sister who just looooooved long, hot showers. But then one summer we had a drought and we learned the importance of water conservation. Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten that this is a craft blog… The craft is coming, I promise! But since I’m not a natural crafter, I like my crafts to have some form of functionality to them. (Come back next week to learn how to make coasters from leftover cocktail napkins!) Imagine how excited I was when I stumbled onto homemade rain chains while browsing Pinterest – and just in time for World Water Day on Saturday!
What is a rain chain?
A rain chain is basically a decorative gutter downspout. Historically, they come from Japan where they have been collecting rain water to use in their homes for centuries. Making rain chains is great because it’s functional AND appealing to the eyes!
Unfortunately living in an apartment I don’t have much access to the roof to hang a rain chain, but here two favorites I found online:
